Week 30 Complaints

I am in week 30 tomorrow.
And Lilz' blog had a list of complaints that made me feel better about my pregnancy. And I thought I'd better list them before I forgot all about my complaints. This may help my friends who are going through a tough pregnancy. Here it goes:

1. Carpel tunnel. I woke up with numbness in my right hand fingers. I noticed it a lot when I went to Pho Thai Son for number 34 (rice vermicelli noodles with veggies and pork skewers and spring rolls). I could hardly hold my chopsticks to finish my meal -- it was so painful.

2. Braxton Hicks contractions. It's been 2 weeks of them. The first weekend I had them, I was really worried. I had about 20 throughout the day. Nothing stopped them. I drank tons of water and lay down to relax. They happened whenever I moved. I found out from my midwife, Sherry, that some people just feel them all the time. And that'd be me.

3. Mild swelling in hands and feet. It was quite warm the other day, and my hands got kinda puffy and fat, my wrinkly hands and feet were chubby and smooth. It hasn't been too bad, but I've been keeping my feet elevated at night, so the swelling goes away.

4. Back ache. Walking and carrying the extra 25 lbs on my stomach is really weighing on my back.

5. Gotta pee. Yes, the extra weight is weighing on my bladder. I pee every 1-2 hrs. It's kinda a no win situation. I'm supposed to drink more water to help relieve the Braxton Hicks contractions, but then I'm peeing all the time. Oh well, at least I'm getting my exercise walking to the bathroom every hour.

6. Uncomfortable sleep. This watermelon weight on my stomach gets really heavy when I have to flip to the other side. I have to hold my stomach and help it turn over with my body. I also have to sleep with a little pillow supporting my stomach. Last night I slept a bit too heavy on my stomach and the baby kicked underneath. I think it was telling me to roll over.

7. Leg cramps while sleeping. There's nothing more soothing than rolling over to the other side and suddenly getting leg cramps! All I can do it flex (not point) my toes and stretch them out. That seems to work right away.

8. Stomach is so large and low it's cutting off circulation to my legs when I'm sitting. It's not very comfortable sitting or walking. I have gained 28 lbs now and it's really heavy on my back, my lower abdomen and the soles of my feet. 3 weeks earlier, I was still pointy-belly, now I've filled out the bottom part of my belly. And that bottom part is so low, that it's cutting off circulation to my legs when I'm sitting. The only comfortable position is lying down... and that's not all that comfy either. My midwife, Sherry, said the position of the baby is 'head down'. Hmmm, wonder if baby will be early. My next apointment is May 3rd.

That seems to be everything for now. I'll add more complaints when they come. A really great book I borrowed from Nancy, called "The Mother of All Pregnancy Books" has a huge section on common pregnancy complaints. I always refer to that when I feel something strange happening to me.

Backview 7 Months

Can you tell I'm preggers from behind?
Hey, I heard the best wives tale about how to tell if it's a boy or a girl. You know you're having a girl if the pregnant woman has turned ugly. That means the baby girl is taking all the looks away from the Mom! Supposedly that's a Chinese wives tale too. Hmmmmm, funny I never heard that one before.

I am not hiding a basketball under my shirt, although it sure looks that way.
