Monica, Paul and Claire

This month, my sister and her husband went to China to pick up their little girl. Claire is a little cutie. There are more pictures at this link: http://monicapaulclairew.blogspot.com/

Hanging out with Mom

Last week I had a great time with my family. My mom was an excellent host and kept me well-fed. Mom is enjoying being a Grandma. She spends a lot of time with her grandkids Liam and Amelia. They love spending time at Grandma's place.

Stuart gets a job!!!

No more looking through classified ads for Stu. Now he has to get used to 8:30 to 4:30 and living like the rest of us. Stuart's first day is Monday, Feb 26th. The working world will never be the same!!

Steph @ work

Last week, Stuart and I met up with Stephanie and Gerald for lunch at Rose's. We picked up Stephanie at the university and checked out her desk/work area. Lunch at Rose's was awesome (as usual) — it's the best vietnamese restaurant!!!

Happy Birthdays

On Saturday, the family celebrated my mom and sister's birthdays. On Friday, Feb 16th, it was my mom's birthday. On Saturday, Feb 24th, it was my sister Stephanie's birthday. Liam and Amelia made sure they were first in line for cake.

My Dad, Francis Kehrig

This weekend I'll be going back to Saskatchewan to see my family. One year ago, Dad passed away. To his children, Dad was a strong, gentle, caring person. He was a rare man that set a high standard for himself and others. At times it could be intimidating, but he was always there and he would always try to be understanding and be supportive. These pictures of my dad are from a book I made for my family. The book was to honour my parent’s 40th anniversary.

A Younger Francis Kehrig

Dad grew up with pets around all the time. We were fortunate to have cats and dogs while we grew up. I think Dad was in his mid to late twenties in this picture.

Sketch of Marlene

Last Christmas I made some 2007 calendars for some of my close friends. This is a sketch of Marlene from Summer of 2005. She was watching a video installation at the Vancouver Art Gallery ... and she was "still" enough for me to draw.

Sketch of our old stereo

Back in 2002, Marlene and I were going on a road trip to Saskatchewan and I was making a bunch of mixed cassettes for the trip. While I was sitting around, I made this sketch.

Devastation in Stanley Park 2006

It's difficult to imagine that nature can rip through a park and damage (estimated) 3000 trees. Well, it happened on Dec 15th, 2006. An extratropical cyclone blew through Stanley Park with winds blowing at 115 km (71.5 mile) per hour. Other wind & snow storms had devastated the park in October 1934, and again in Oct 1962 (Typhoon Freda). Here are some shots of the aftermath of Dec 15, 2006. The drive through Stanley Park just opened up again, and many tourists and locals have been driving through taking pictures of the unbelievably changed landscape. It looks like a clearcut area.

Snow Shoeing

Marlene had the day off last Saturday. We did some snow shoeing at the local mountains and then we went for a dinner and a movie (new James Bond / Casino Royal -- it had some great action).

Outdoor Hockey Tournament near Pentiction

The Admirals hockey club re-assembled in January for some good ol' fashioned pond hockey. The results were unfavorable (zero wins), but we still managed to have a blast.

The Out-Door Rink

A view of the outdoor rink with a part of the Apex Mountain resort in the background. The trailer along the bottom of the rink was the change room.

Stuart, the Cheering Section

Stuart had some time between job searching to come down from Edmonton and see us play. Stu's big play was handing the zamboni driver a beer when he looped past us.

Hockey Pose

Posing for a "hockey card" picture. Our Saturday morning game was so bright that you needed shades.
